Earning differences between ethicities

The chart below shows average earning differences in ethnic groups compared to White ethnicities across the North East and England. It shows that the patterns across ethnicities are the same in the North East and England, with Asian and Asian Birth workers, mixed ethnicities and other ethnicities all earning more on average than white workers, while black and black British workers earn less.

It should be noted that there is considerable variation between years on earnings gaps between ethnicities. This is demonstrated by the second chart which shows how these differences have changed over time in the North East.

Some of the data points are based on small sample sizes and cannot be considered reliable, especially those relating to Mixed or Multiple ethnic groups and Other ethnic groups.
